The college essay is the part of the application where a student's voice, judgment, and story can come through. It is also where many students freeze, over-edit, or write something that sounds like everyone else. We build a process that helps students find the right material, shape it clearly, and revise without losing their own voice.
Start with the material only this student could write
We begin with a structured brainstorm around specific experiences, places, conversations, questions, and turning points. The work is to find material that reveals how the student thinks, what they notice, and what they are ready to bring into a college community.
Shape the personal statement, supplements, and short answers
One-on-one sessions move from idea to structure to draft. We work through the personal statement first, then school-specific supplements, UC essays, and short answers as the list comes into focus. The work is collaborative, but the writing stays the student's. The essay should sound clear, specific, and recognizably like them.
Make the essay sharper without sanding it flat
Final revisions focus on structure, clarity, pacing, line edits, and the small choices that matter before submission. The essay should be polished, specific, honest, and not overworked.
Engagements can run from early brainstorming through final submissions, or focus on a single essay or supplement on a shorter timeline.
